Internationalization Activities, North Savo, Spring 2022

VeKO's project has reached its second full year of operations and is continuing to support the internationalization of North Savo in multiple ways.

International House Webinar, 21 January 2022

In the webinar organized by VeKO, Team Leader Maija Niskavirta from the City of Tampere presented the Tampere International House concept, and Pasi Patrikainen, General Director of the North Savo ELY Center, spoke about the labor shortage in Northern Savonia, the available services and the region's international recruitment vision. The speeches sparked a lot of discussion, and we will continue to brainstorm the One-Stop-Shop concept with stakeholders and companies in a workshop later this spring.

Brand Yourself and Get Hired Day, 3 February 2022

During the Brand Yourself and Get Hired Day, designed by North Savo Talent Hub and VeKO, international talents received tips from companies representatives on job search. About a hundred active internationals and several companies took part in the virtual event hosted by VeKO's own Integration Specialist Marco. Recruitment cooperation in Upper Savo (Ylä-Savo area)

The recruitment cooperation with RD Group, which began last year, has progressed through interviews to selections. The first European experts in the metal industry have already arrived in Upper Savo to fill the domestic shortage. During the spring, a total of 13 internationals will start working at RD Group's various operating locations in Upper Savo. At the moment, VeKO supports the company and its employees, for example, in applying for residence permits and settling in a new home region. This has been a great opportunity to develop practical cooperation models to support international recruitment with RD Group, Eures, North Savo Employment and Economic Development Office and city of Kiuruvesi. The city of Iisalmi has also been involved in supporting the settling of talents.

Integration in the work community: Case FinVector

During the spring, we will also publish a video series focusing on FinVector Oy's recruitment practices. In the first part, HR Director Johanna Pantsar and HR Manager Pauliina Tuovinen talk about the company's recruitment process and how the company supports a new international employee in starting a job and integrating into the work community. In the following parts of the series, international experts hired by the company will talk about their experiences. Watch the first video and grab the best tips for your organization.

VeKO Platform: Virtual One-Stop-Shop

During late spring, we will also publish the first version of the interactive virtual platform we have developed, where companies, cities, municipalities and other organizations, as well as international talents, can search for information related to international recruitment and settling, generate content and communicate with each other.
